The College Library Advisory Committee organized a training session on the ProQuest Database on 9th September 2026 for first-semester students of BBA, B.Com, and M.Com. The session aimed to equip students with the essential skills to access, search, and effectively utilize credible academic resources and databases for their research work and coursework. Mr. Arun Kumar Kalia, Senior Zonal Manager – Content & Technology Services, conducted the training and drew upon his extensive experience in technology solutions to offer valuable insights to the participants. He explained how ProQuest offers access to high-quality scholarly content that goes beyond what general search engines can provide. Students were walked through the process of accessing the database both on and off campus, and were introduced to key features including Basic and Advanced Search, filters, and Publication Search. The session further touched upon practical elements such as downloading articles, using the citation tool, and making use of the audio-read feature. In addition, students were shown how to set up personalized research alerts and organize their saved articles for easy future access — a feature many found especially relevant given their upcoming assignments. Faculty members in attendance welcomed the initiative, remarking that such early exposure to academic databases would go a long way in building a strong research foundation for students throughout their courses. The session wrapped up with an interactive Q&A round, which left students with a much clearer, hands-on understanding of the database and better equipped to carry out effective academic research going forward.
