At Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce & Management, we believe that emotional well-being is the foundation of personal growth, academic success, and a fulfilling college experience. The Mental Health & Wellness Cell is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every student feels heard, valued, and empowered to thrive. Guided by the college psychologist, the Cell offers confidential one-on-one counselling sessions, psychological assessments, preventive mental health initiatives, and evidence-based wellness programmes designed to support students at every stage of their journey.
Our initiatives extend beyond addressing concerns—they focus on building resilience, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, healthy relationships, confidence, and effective coping skills. Regular workshops, awareness campaigns, and experiential activities are conducted throughout the academic year to promote positive mental health and encourage open conversations around emotional well-being.
Through a holistic and student-centred approach, the Mental Health & Wellness Cell strives to foster a campus culture where seeking support is encouraged, mental health is prioritised, and every student is equipped with the resources needed to lead a balanced, resilient, and meaningful life.
MENTAL HEALTH & WELL-BEING POLICY
SACCM is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive academic environment that prioritizes the mental health and overall well-being of its students. In accordance with the directives of the Supreme Court of India, University Grants Commission (UGC), National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, and NAAC accreditation requirements, the institution has established a structured framework to address psychological concerns, promote well-being, and provide timely support to students.

- Mental Health & Wellness Cell (MHWC)
The institution has established a dedicated Mental Health & Wellness Cell (MHWC) to oversee and implement all mental health-related initiatives on campus. The Cell serves as the central body for planning, coordination, and execution of well-being programs aimed at fostering the overall well-being of students and staff. A professional psychologist conducts counselling sessions, psychological assessments, and mental health support interventions to address emotional and psychological concerns and promote overall mental well-being. Additionally, to encourage a holistic approach to wellness, the college provides access to a qualified yoga expert who conducts yoga and meditation sessions focused on mindfulness, stress reduction, and emotional balance. Sessions are conducted based on prior appointment and are held only during college working days and working hours (9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

The institution provides professional and confidential counselling services, including:
- Individual counselling sessions
- Group counselling and psycho-educational interventions
- Crisis intervention and referral services
- Regular yoga and meditation classes for all classes to promote mindfulness,
stress management, emotional balance, and overall well-being
- Confidentiality & Ethical Practice
Strict confidentiality is maintained in all counselling interactions. Information is disclosed only in situations involving risk to self or others or where required by law.
- Preventive Mental Health Initiatives
The MHWC regularly conducts:
- Awareness programs, seminars, and workshops
- Orientation sessions for newly admitted students
- Sessions to reduce stigma and promote help-seeking behaviour
- Early Identification & Intervention
The institution implements mechanisms such as feedback systems, observations, and assessments to identify students in need of psychological support and ensure timely intervention.
- Accessibility & Support Systems
The institution ensures that students have access to mental health support services and is working towards strengthening accessibility through institutional support mechanisms.
- Faculty & Staff Sensitization
Training and sensitization programs are conducted for faculty and staff to:
- Identify signs of psychological distress
- Provide initial support
- Refer students to appropriate services
- Student Engagement & Peer Support
Students are encouraged to participate in peer support initiatives, awareness campaigns, and well-being programs to foster a supportive community environment.

All activities conducted under the MHWC are systematically documented and reported through IQAC to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with NAAC standards.

Vision Board Workshop
Date: 31 January 2025 (Friday)
The Mental Health & Wellness Cell organized a Vision Board Workshop on 31 January 2025 (Friday) to help students develop clarity about their personal, academic, and career aspirations. The session introduced participants to goal setting through visualization, SMART goals, and the psychological principles behind motivation and positive thinking. By creating personalized vision boards, students reflected on their ambitions, identified meaningful goals, and learned how consistent focus can strengthen commitment and self-belief. The workshop encouraged purpose-driven planning and inspired students to take practical steps toward achieving their future aspirations.
“Unclutter Your Mind” – Overthinking Workshop
Date: 17 April 2025 (Thursday)
The “Unclutter Your Mind” – Overthinking Workshop, conducted on 17 April 2025 (Thursday), aimed to help students understand how excessive thinking can affect emotions, decision-making, and overall well-being. Through interactive discussions and self-reflection activities, participants learned to recognize common thinking patterns, identify triggers for overthinking, and practice practical coping strategies grounded in psychological principles. The session emphasized building awareness rather than avoiding thoughts, enabling students to manage stress more effectively and respond to challenges with greater emotional balance.
Stress Management at Workplace (Faculty Development Programme)
Date: 15 July 2025 (Tuesday)
As part of the Faculty Development Programme, a Stress Management at Workplace session was conducted on 15 July 2025 (Tuesday) to promote psychological well-being among faculty members. The workshop explored workplace stress, burnout, and the importance of maintaining emotional resilience in educational settings. Participants were introduced to practical stress-management techniques, relaxation exercises, and strategies for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. The session highlighted how prioritizing mental well-being can enhance productivity, job satisfaction, and the overall learning environment for students.
Speed Friending Workshop
Date: 18 September 2025 (Thursday)
The Speed Friending Workshop, held on 18 September 2025 (Thursday), was designed to encourage meaningful social interaction and strengthen peer connections among students. Through structured conversations and engaging activities, participants had the opportunity to meet new classmates, develop communication skills, and build confidence in social situations. The workshop addressed the psychological importance of belonging and social support, helping reduce feelings of isolation while fostering a more inclusive and connected campus community.
Level Up: Building Confidence & Self-Efficacy (Women’s Development Cell)
Date: 31 October 2025 (Friday)
Organized in collaboration with the Women’s Development Cell, Level Up: Building Confidence & Self-Efficacy was conducted on 31 October 2025 (Friday) to empower students by strengthening their confidence and emotional resilience. The session focused on understanding self-belief, overcoming self-doubt, and developing a positive self-image through interactive activities and psychological insights. Students explored ways to build assertiveness, recognize their strengths, and approach personal and professional challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
Vision Board Workshop – II
Date: 13 February 2026 (Friday)
The second edition of the Vision Board Workshop was conducted on 13 February 2026 (Friday) to encourage students to revisit, refine, and strengthen their personal and career goals. Building upon the concepts introduced in the previous session, participants reflected on their progress, updated their aspirations, and created revised vision boards aligned with their evolving ambitions. The workshop reinforced the importance of self-reflection, motivation, and long-term planning, helping students stay committed to meaningful and achievable goals.
Somatic Therapy & Yoga-Based Trauma Release Workshop (MHWC)
Date: 23 February 2026 (Monday)
The Mental Health & Wellness Cell organized a Somatic Therapy & Yoga-Based Trauma Release Workshop on 23 February 2026 (Monday) to introduce students to the connection between the mind and body in emotional well-being. The session combined trauma-informed psychological concepts with gentle movement, breathwork, and body-awareness practices to help participants recognize how stress and emotions can be stored physically. Students learned healthy ways to regulate emotions, release tension, and cultivate greater self-awareness, promoting resilience and overall mental wellness.
Yoga Nidra for Deep Relaxation & Emotional Reset (MHWC)
Date: 8 April 2026 (Wednesday)
The Yoga Nidra for Deep Relaxation & Emotional Reset workshop was conducted on 8 April 2026 (Wednesday) to help students experience the restorative benefits of guided relaxation and mindfulness. The session introduced participants to Yoga Nidra as a scientifically supported practice for reducing stress, improving concentration, and enhancing emotional well-being. By entering a state of deep physical relaxation while maintaining mental awareness, students experienced techniques that can support emotional regulation, mental clarity, and overall psychological wellness.
Expressive Arts Therapy Session
Date: 28 July 2026 (Tuesday)
The Expressive Arts Therapy Session, organized on 28 July 2026 (Tuesday) by the Mental Health & Wellness Cell, introduced students to the therapeutic use of art as a healthy medium for emotional expression and self-discovery. Through guided creative activities, participants explored thoughts and emotions that are often difficult to express through words alone, promoting self-awareness, emotional regulation, and personal reflection. The workshop provided a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where students could connect with their emotions in a meaningful way. The enthusiastic participation and positive feedback highlighted the value of incorporating creative and experiential approaches into campus mental health initiatives, reinforcing the importance of accessible and engaging psychological support.
