An industrial visit to Vardhman Textiles Limited, Ludhiana was organised on 12th September, 2026 for the students of BCA 5th Semester with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to the working of an IT Department in a large industrial organisation and to help them understand how information technology supports day-to-day business operations. During the visit, students were introduced to different operational areas and the role of IT in supporting sales and distribution, business applications, infrastructure, networking and connectivity. The visit was coordinated by Prof. Vijay Chhabra, Dr. Komal Sharma and Prof. Rishab Batra.
The students were given an overview of the organization’s IT infrastructure and the measures followed to maintain the security and smooth functioning of various systems. A key highlight of the visit was the interactive presentation delivered by Mr. Sanjay Goyal, who shared valuable insights into the organization’s IT infrastructure, application security and the role of technology in supporting business operations. The students learned about application and interface security, data encryption, data leakage prevention and the use of virtual networks for connecting different plants. Mr. Suresh further gave the students a detailed understanding of the Data Centre and explained the systems used for database management, regular backups and disaster recovery arrangements. Students were also introduced to the use of Business Intelligence (BI) tools and the way IT teams are organized to handle infrastructure and application-related responsibilities. The discussion also covered access control and the monitoring of digital information across different systems.
A major part of the visit focused on the infrastructure and safety systems used to support continuous operations. Students observed facilities and controls such as the 66 KV substation, temperature monitoring systems, fire alarm and gas leakage detection systems, water leakage detection, rodent monitoring and emergency water shower arrangements. They also learned about proper ventilation, controlled temperature conditions, the BMS control panel, sensors and automated alerts generated for registered systems. Routine testing and the checking of alarm systems were also discussed. Overall, the industrial visit was highly informative and gave the students a clearer understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity practices, networking, data management and the important role of technology in supporting business operations. The students expressed their sincere gratitude to Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, the Management of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce & Management for organizing this valuable learning experience and looked forward to participating in more such industrial visits.
