The mock parliamentary debate, under the aegis of MUN, was organised by Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management (SACCM), Ludhiana, on 14th October 2026, Wednesday, on the topic, “Transparency in Conducting Competitive Examinations” to develop students’ public speaking, critical thinking, leadership, and debating skills while familiarising them with the functioning of the Indian Parliament.

The activity followed the Indian parliamentary style, with students divided into two groups representing the Ruling Party and the Opposition Party. Participants assumed the roles of prominent political leaders and presented their arguments on the issue. The Ruling Party introduced a bill proposing measures to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in competitive examinations. The Opposition Party critically examined the bill, highlighted concerns related to examination irregularities, paper leaks, and accountability, and recommended suitable amendments to strengthen its provisions. The session witnessed engaging debates, constructive arguments, and thoughtful suggestions, providing students with practical exposure to legislative proceedings and democratic decision-making.

To recognise their outstanding performances, prizes were awarded to the participants. Arishta was adjudged Best Parliamentarian, while Vansh received the title of Best Member of the Opposition. Gunika earned a Special Mention, whereas Kirat and Manit received Verbal Mentions for their impactful presentations, persuasive arguments, and commendable debating skills.

The activity proved to be an enriching learning experience, encouraging students to express their views confidently, analyse contemporary issues critically, and appreciate the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions.

Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, Principal of SACCM, appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation and commendable debating skills. He emphasised that such activities nurture critical thinking, leadership, and effective communication while fostering democratic values and awareness of parliamentary proceedings among students.
