The Book Club of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organised an engaging and innovative activity titled “Shark Tank for Books” on 5 October 2026. The activity aimed to promote the habit of reading among students by providing them with a creative platform to present and recommend books to their peers. A total of nine students participated in the activity. Each participant pitched a book of their choice before the audience, with the objective of convincing the audience and judges that their selected book should be their next read. The students highlighted the key themes, interesting aspects, relevance, and unique features of their chosen books. The activity provided students with an opportunity to showcase their communication skills, creativity, confidence, critical thinking, and persuasive abilities. Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, Principal, addressed the students and appreciated their enthusiastic participation in the activity. He motivated them to develop and sustain the habit of reading, highlighting that in the modern technology-driven era, where students are increasingly dependent on digital content, the traditional practice of reading books continues to play a vital role in enriching knowledge, broadening perspectives, enhancing critical thinking, and nurturing creativity. He encouraged the students to explore diverse genres and make reading an integral part of their personal and academic growth. His inspiring words added immense value to the event and motivated the students to continue their literary pursuits with enthusiasm. The presentations were evaluated by Dr. Aashish Garg and Ms. Amarjeet Kaur, who judged the participants based on their content, presentation skills, confidence, creativity, originality, and ability to persuade the audience and the voting done by the audience. The judges appreciated the efforts of all the participants and acknowledged the innovative concept of presenting books in the engaging format of a “Shark Tank” pitch. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, and the winners were announced at the conclusion of the event. Anuja Jain and Mohit jointly secured the 1st position, followed by Agamnoor, who secured the 2nd position, while Simran secured the 3rd position. The event was well organised and coordinated by Ms. Esha Jain and Dr. Anchal Arora, whose dedicated efforts ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the activity. Overall, “Shark Tank for Books” was an innovative and enriching Book Club initiative that successfully encouraged students to explore books, express their ideas confidently, and inspire others to develop a reading habit.
