The NSS Unit of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana, celebrated World Mental Health Day on 10th October, 2022. This day was meaningfully utilized to raise awareness about mental health and its importance in our lives. The residents of two villages i.e. Jhande and Phulanwal which are adopted by the college, were acclimatized about the mental disorders and their effects on our personal, work and family life. The NSS faculty coordinators and volunteers urged the residents that one of the most important aspects of a ‘good life’ is our overall health, and happy people are less prone to the mental disorders. Happy people suffer less stress, depression and anxiety. Keeping this in mind, a few activities were planned to spread happiness amongst them. Fun games were played with the residents of the adopted villages and an endeavour was made to make them happy so that they can be mentally fit and physically healthy. Similarly at college, a thank you note with a token of gratitude was presented to the faculty, office staff and  sub staff  to make them feel happy about the varied roles they are playing in the college.   Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar appreciated the efforts of NSS Unit and emphasised that happy people are also more sociable, and enjoy good mental wellbeing. Being happy and making someone happy is a small but effective step in bringing significant improvement in the mental health. 23 NSS volunteers along with faculty coordinators Dr. Jinesh Jain, Ms. Esha Jain and Mr. Ashish Bajaj participated in the drive for creating awareness about Mental Health.
