The Alumni Association of Sri Aurobindo College of commerce and management, Ludhiana organised a session on the topic “Introduction to Metaverse” for the students of B.com 1 A and B.com 1C on 21st October 2022. Worthy Principal sir Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar presented floral welcome to the eminent speakers of the session. Afterwards, Ms. Swati Gupta, Assistant Professor, SACCM formally introduced the esteemed guests, Dr. Prem Kumar, Executive Director-Education, Munjal BCU Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Dr. Vijay Venkatesh, KBE, Birmingham City University to the audience. The students were informed about the Meta verse, the next revolution after the internet. It is an immersive virtual reality world where users can communicate and interact with each other in 3D space created at the Meta verse. It is an enigmatic concept that needs to be understood with precision and thoughtful mind. This 21st century is a century of AI (Artificial Intelligence), and top brains in the field have already shared their piece that the coming times will be ruled by the robots. Dr. Kumar wound up by stating that 5 years down the line the world will change and shift to meta verse reality and will adapt the new environment. He is a voracious reader and has been in the field of education for quite many decades. He made the session an exciting and inviting. Dr Vijay show cased the students the 2D version of the 3D Augmented Reality by inviting the guest on the virtual call on the meta space and gave awareness on the four-week certified program on “Build your own meta verse”. The speaker spoke on the topic with full zest and the audience were all ears to the illustrious speaker. All the students were motivated to learn with the changing environment. In the end, the team extended formal vote of thanks to Dr. Prem Kumar and Dr. Vijay Venkatesh for this effective session.
