Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management on January 25, 2024 organised a session on the topic ‘Growing up as Leaders: Youth as Change Agents’ under ‘Shape the Mind Programme.’ The resource person for the expert talk was none other than the famed Dr. Rajesh Gill, Professor (Retired), Department of Sociology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Advocate (Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana).

Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, extended a formal welcome to the celebrated speaker, and expressed the wish that such meaningful thoughts clothed in Avant Garde style be shared with the students in still more visits of the erudite speaker. Mr. Sahil Ghai introduced the distinguished scholarly sociologist with his felicitating words. Then Dr. Gill started the session in her scholastic but lively style, and greatly dwelt upon the power of youth in the modern times. She animated her lecture with pragmatic examples from day to day experiences. In her highly educative, informative and well packed lecture, she focused on the fact that the young boys and girls should cultivate in themselves the spirit of leadership by taking brave decisions. She advised the students not to be always a follower but learn to be a leader. In order to be a good and a great leader, one should not always toe the trodden path; rather be a good organiser, and impact the fellow beings with critical faculties. She took into her ambit examples from the vice of dowry, female foeticide, molestation of girls, use of hush money etc. In order to be a leader, she exhorted the students to come out of their comfort zones. She further stated one should not wait for the change to happen, rather the change should always start from oneself.  She most beautifully stated that humans are always better than the gadgets because gadgets do not possess any critical acumen, whereas humans do

The students were all acclaim for not only the brilliant talk but also for the brilliance of Dr. Gill. Dr. Puja Jain expressed her gratitude to the luminous speaker through vote of thanks. Mr. Vinay Dawar lent a great hand in making the session a success.
