Dr. Sushil Kumar is primarily an Educational Administrator, and a Motivator. Prior to joining Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management he was the Chairman, Association of Historians and formerly the Director, ICHR in the Higher Education wing of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
Dr Kumar is a well-known Soldier- Scholar who while serving in the Armed Forces of the Nation kept himself abreast with developments in the academic world.He had joined Indian Air Force as a Pilot Officer, having been commissioned in July 1973. He had topped Panjab University in BA Hon’s History and had topped Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in MA Previous. While in the Indian Air Force he completed MA History, MSc (Defence Studies), PGDHRM, DIM, MBA and LLB. He has also undergone the prestigious Staff Course from Defence Services Staff College Wellington.While he was a Wing Commander he was selected to the post of Director under the Ministry of HRD. He brings to the post his multifarious experience of a career both in the Defence and in the Civil, spanning a period of more than 40 years. He has held, during his career, various positions dealing with Educational Administration, Academic-Research, Personnel Planning, Public Relations and Cultural Exchange between India and other countries of the World.
Dr Kumar is a prolific writer who has authored books and written articles and columns for the leading National Newspapers. Some of his articles on India’s Freedom Struggle like <!– –> Soldiers were the heroes of 1857 <!– –> and Nuclear Strategy have been widely acclaimed. He is a firm believer in the ‘Philosophy of Integral Education’ as propounded by Sri Aurobindo, the Great Indian Nationalist and Philosopher.
He attributes great importance to family ties. His wife is a former Principal and a Teacher. He has two daughters, one a Ph.D. in Environment Management and the other an Educationist, both settled in Singapore and U.S.A.
Dr. Kumar strongly believes in the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and in the values of discipline. For growth and an all round development of the students, Kumar opines, consistent collaborative efforts by both parents and teachers will propel holistic development.
