Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana commemorated the Jalianwala Bagh massacre of 13th April 1919 in order to bring home to the students of the College the supreme sacrifices made by thousands of Indians by virtue of whose resilience we are breathing and living in independent India.
The Students of Commerce and Management paid rapt attention when they were being addressed by the Director Education of the College Dr Sushil Kumar – who is a former Director of Indian Council of Historical Research, MHRD. The Director beseeched the students not to forget the history of independence and the travails and tribulations to which the then Indians were subjected to. The Principal of the College Dr R L Behl exhorted the students to cherish the values of freedom. A pledge was administered to the students to protect the honour and dignity of the Country. One-minute silence was observed to pay homage to the martyrs of the Jalianwala Bagh.
Sri Aurobindo College, established by Padma Bhushan S P Oswal with a vision and mission of imparting holistic education has invariably been commemorating the holy days in the memory of great souls of the Country. When the ordinary mortals fritter and while away their time the college endeavours to impart holistic guidance to the students so that they may ever remember along with their formal education not only the history of the country but also remain reminiscent of all those who acted as beacons for others to achieve independence and for continuing on to the path of progress for a reverberant India.
