Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, on September 09, 2026, hosted an intellectually charged and refreshingly interactive session, “In Conversation with Mr. Sachit Jain,” under its “Shape the Mind Programme”, bringing students face to face with one of the most accomplished voices of the industry. Mr. Sachit Jain is Chairman and Managing Director, Vardhman Special Steels Limited, Ludhiana. Far removed from the predictable format of a ceremonial lecture, the session was conceived as an open conversation, where questions had no prescribed boundaries and curiosity was given a free rein. The result was a candid, engaging and deeply enriching exchange between an accomplished industry leader and a generation eager to understand the world beyond textbooks. Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar formally welcomed Mr. Jain to the campus. The real pulse of the programme, however, lay in the interaction that followed. The students were given complete liberty to ask any question they wished. They seized the opportunity with remarkable enthusiasm, raising questions that traversed the entire spectrum of Mr. Jain’s life and professional experience, from his personal journey and career trajectory to the challenges he encountered, the challenges confronting him even today, and his vision for the future of India’s special steel industry in comparison with that of developed nations. Mr. Jain responded to the questions with striking candour and without inhibition. Nothing was wrapped in diplomatic language or reduced to textbook generalities. He spoke from experience, drawing upon the realities of the professional world and giving students something considerably more valuable than theoretical answers. His approachable demeanour was as striking as his knowledge. The students were visibly impressed by the ease, warmth and patience with which Mr. Jain entertained their questions. His comfortable and congenial attitude transformed what could have been a formal interaction into an authentic conversation. For the young participants, it was an opportunity to hear the realities of industry straight from the horse’s mouth. They were clearly bowled over by Mr. Jain’s pragmatic understanding, his clarity of thought and his ability to convert years of professional experience into lessons of immediate relevance to young minds. Mr. Jain, too, left no stone unturned to ensure that the students got their concepts right. He patiently addressed their queries, elaborated wherever necessary and ensured that the interaction remained meaningful rather than merely ceremonial. The session therefore became more than an exchange of questions and answers. It became a rare meeting point of experience and aspiration, where professional wisdom encountered youthful curiosity. The session was a fitting reflection of the philosophy behind SACCM’s “Shape the Mind Programme” to take education beyond the four walls of the classroom and place students in direct conversation with experience, enterprise and the realities of the professional world.
