In a significant endeavour to bridge the chasm between academic instruction and industrial praxis, 44 students of BBA 3rd Semester of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management undertook an industrial visit to Vardhman Textiles, accompanied by Prof. Sahil Ghai. The visit was conceived to acquaint the students with the intricate operational architecture of the textile industry and to provide them with meaningful exposure to real world manufacturing processes. The visit unfolded as an illuminating journey through the various stages of textile production. The students were first introduced to the Hand-to-Cone Section, where they observed the systematic conversion and handling of yarn. This was followed by an extensive visit to the Drying and Dyeing Section, enabling them to comprehend the technical nuances involved in the treatment and colouring of textile materials. The students subsequently visited the Spinning Section, where they witnessed first-hand the sophisticated processes involved in transforming raw material into finished yarn. A particularly engaging segment of the visit was the interactive session conducted by Ms. Deepika from the Human Resources Department, who apprised the students of the organisational and professional dimensions of the textile industry and patiently responded to their queries. The ensuing Question-and-Answer Session developed into an intellectual feast. The students displayed remarkable curiosity and inquisitiveness, raising a wide spectrum of questions encompassing marketing, manufacturing, production processes, organisational functioning and the commercial dimensions of the textile business. Their probing questions and the insightful responses offered by the resource person transformed the interaction into a stimulating academic exchange. The industrial visit thus transcended the conventional boundaries of classroom learning and provided the students with an invaluable opportunity to correlate theoretical constructs with their practical manifestations. It enriched their understanding of industrial operations, sharpened their professional awareness and offered them a panoramic glimpse into the functioning of a large scale manufacturing enterprise. Overall, the visit proved immensely fruitful and intellectually enriching, leaving the students with a deeper appreciation of the complexities, disciplines and opportunities that constitute the contemporary textile industry.
