The Parivartan Club (Eco Club of SACCM) organised an insightful session on “Sustainability: Industrial Approach and Practices” on 18th August 2026 at the New Seminar Hall of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana. The session aimed to sensitise students towards the growing importance of sustainable practices in industries and to help them understand how environmental responsibility can be integrated into modern business and industrial operations.

The session featured Mr. Parminder Singh, Senior Vice President – Engineering & EHS, A&E Vardhman Yarns and Threads Ltd., as the guest speaker. Drawing upon his professional experience in the industrial sector, Mr. Singh spoke about the practical challenges and opportunities associated with sustainability in manufacturing. He discussed areas such as efficient utilisation of energy and water, waste reduction, pollution control, workplace safety and responsible management of industrial resources. The guest speaker further explained that sustainability and industrial growth need not be viewed as conflicting objectives. With proper planning, technological improvements and responsible resource management, industries can improve operational efficiency while reducing their impact on the environment.

The session also highlighted the role of young people in promoting sustainable development. Students were encouraged to become more conscious of their consumption patterns, minimise wastage and understand how small individual actions can contribute to larger environmental goals. An interactive discussion followed the session, allowing students to seek clarification and connect the concepts discussed with real-world industrial practices.

Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, Principal, SACCM, appreciated the initiative undertaken by the Parivartan Club and encouraged students to develop a responsible and informed approach towards environmental conservation. He emphasised the importance of creating awareness among young minds and motivating them to become responsible contributors to a sustainable future.

The event was thoughtfully organised and coordinated by Dr. Prerna Ahuja and Ms. Ishika Garcha, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the session. Their coordination provided students with an engaging platform to learn directly from an experienced industry professional and gain a practical perspective on sustainability
