The British Parliamentary Debate (BPD) Induction Programme was successfully organised on 4th August 2026 to welcome new students and introduce them to the dynamic world of parliamentary debating. The programme was designed to familiarise participants with the objectives of the BPD, its code of conduct, and rules and regulations.
The session provided a comprehensive introduction to the British Parliamentary style of debating, highlighting its globally recognised format, the roles and responsibilities of speakers, debate structure, and the skills required to excel in competitive debating. Students gained valuable insights into how parliamentary debates foster critical thinking, logical reasoning, effective communication, teamwork, and confidence.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, who actively engaged in discussions and interacted with the coordinators to gain a better understanding of the debating format and society operations. The induction successfully sparked interest among the participants and laid a strong foundation for their journey in British Parliamentary debating, inspiring them to become confident, articulate, and responsible debaters.
