The Edu Talk Club of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organized an Open House Discussion on “Social Media Activism Trivializes Social Injustice” on November 3, 2025. The event aimed to encourage critical thinking, articulate expression, and informed debate among students on a topic that resonates strongly with contemporary society.
The discussion witnessed enthusiastic participation from students who presented diverse viewpoints on whether social media activism genuinely contributes to social change or merely reduces serious issues to trending hashtags. Participants highlighted various examples ranging from online movements like #MeToo and BlackLivesMatter to localized campaigns, weighing their impact on real-world justice.
The session was marked by engaging interactions as the judges, Mr. Mahesh Kumar and Ms. Mehak Arora, as well as members of the audience, posed thought-provoking questions to the speakers. This led to a vibrant exchange of ideas and perspectives, enriching the overall discussion.
After careful evaluation of content, articulation, and rebuttal skills, Agam Gupta and Tansihka Setia were adjudged the Best Speakers of the event.
The Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar appreciated the efforts of the Edu Talk Club for providing a dynamic platform for students to voice their opinions on socially relevant issues. He emphasized that such discussions nurture informed citizens who can engage meaningfully with public discourse beyond digital platforms. Overall the event was coordinated by Dr. Marinal Gupta and Ms. Esha Jain.
