On 18th February 2025, an expert talk on “Constitutional Provisions on Women’s Rights in India” was organized, featuring Dr. Arti Puri, Professor at the University Institute of Laws, Ludhiana, as the distinguished speaker. Dr. Robin Kaushal introduced Dr. Puri, highlighting her expertise in Constitutional Law.The session was attended by female students from BBA IV A & B, BBA VI A & B, BBA II A & B, and M. Com I, with the objective of enhancing their understanding of constitutional rights and legal protections. Dr. Puri provided a detailed analysis of India’s constitutional framework for gender equality, covering fundamental rights such as Equality, Prohibition of Gender Discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunities, and Equal Pay for Equal Work. She also discussed the Directive Principles of State Policy, particularly Article 42, which ensures humane working conditions and maternity benefits.

College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar stressed the importance of constitutional awareness in fostering a just and equitable society. He emphasized that these rights are crucial for women’s empowerment, justice, and equality, encouraging students to engage in discussions and advocate for change.

The session covered workplace sexual harassment, rights of gig workers, and women’s role in constitutional development. Dr. Puri introduced students to government initiatives like SHe-Box and One Stop Centres (OSC), which support women facing harassment or violence. The event, successfully coordinated by the Women Development Cell of SACCM, was both informative and empowering, equipping students with valuable legal knowledge.
