On 9th February, 2022, the third day of the Faculty Development Programme titled ‘A Paradigm Shift in Teaching, Learning and Evaluation’, a session was held on the theme ‘Outcome Based Course Plan: Process and Implementation’. The FDP was organized by Internal Quality & Assurance Cell and Research & Faculty Development Committee of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana. The resource person for the session was Dr. Tejinderpal Singh, Associate Professor, University Business School, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Singh is a successful MOOC instructor having developed and delivered the ‘Digital Marketing’ MOOC — ranked amongst the top 15 online courses worldwide (amongst top 5 in India) by the Class Central on the SWAYAM platform of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He is a Certified Professional Trainer of Qualitative Data Analysis (ATLAS.ti).

The session started with the introduction of speaker by Dr. Puja Jain, Assistant Professor, SACCM. Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, Principal, SACCM, under whose dynamic leadership, the college is experiencing various initiatives for the upliftment of teaching-learning, formally welcomed the resource person and the participants. He shared with all about his long association with Dr. Tejinderpal Singh. He further told the audience that he and Dr. Singh worked jointly on various assignments.  Dr. Kumar opined that the topic of the session is very relevant in today’s scenario as NEP also highlights the importance of Outcome Based Education. During session, the resource person explained the meaning and relevance of Outcome-Based Education. He explained the OBE structure in detail. He also talked on the four building blocks of course plan i.e. course learning outcomes, topics/modules, activities, and assessment. He emphasised the use of suitable action verb in learning outcomes based on Bloom’s taxonomy, and that each action verb should define a level of learning. The resource person also explained the steps in rubric development in a very lucid manner. Dr. Singh gave many examples to facilitate the understanding of the topics. Towards the end, question-answer round was held wherein the resource person answered the queries. Ms. Amarjit Kaur, Assistant Professor, SACCM extended a formal vote of thanks.
