Women Development Cell of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organized an engaging and insightful session titled “Legal Literacy as a Tool for Women Empowerment” on 30-01-2026 for B.Com II A and B.Com IV B. The session was conducted by Mr. Inderpreet Singh Sohal, Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court with an objective to create awareness among participants about the legal rights and protections available to women. The resource person emphasized the importance of legal knowledge in promoting equality, safety, and independence. He discussed key constitutional rights, laws related to domestic violence, workplace harassment, dowry prohibition, property and inheritance rights, and the availability of free legal aid and women helplines.
The session was conducted through real-life examples, and interactive discussions, which encouraged participants to ask questions and share experiences. Overall, the session highlighted that legal literacy is a vital tool for strengthening women’s social, economic, and personal empowerment and for building a more informed and equitable society. Principal Prof (Dr.) Vishal Kumar appreciated the session by emphasizing the importance of such sessions and making the most of the opportunities provided by the institution. The session was well co-ordinated by WDC team.
