The Edu Talk Club of SACCM organized a lecture on Trade and Tariff Dynamics in Global Economic Relations by Dr. Pooja Sikka, Assistant Professor, Punjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, wherein she provided a comprehensive overview of the rationale of international trade and its significance in achieving economic growth and development. The lecture highlighted the developmental imperative behind trade policies, tracing their historical evolution from mercantilism to the contemporary phase of hyper-globalisation. Dr. Sikka elaborated on the role and relevance of tariffs, explaining their economic functions as well as their continued importance despite increasing global trade liberalisation. She further discussed the growing geopolitical dimensions of trade and tariff policies in the current global context, emphasizing how economic relations are increasingly shaped by strategic interests, power dynamics, and international rivalries. The Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar appreciated the initiative of the Edu Talk Club and underscored the importance of such academic interactions in enhancing students’ understanding of contemporary global economic issues.
