EXAMINATION RULES

1. EXAMINATION RULES FOR SEMESTER CLASSES

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPEARING IN END SEMESTER EXAMINATION (ESE) (AS PER UNIVERSITY GUIDELINES)

In order to be eligible, a student

    1. is required to be on the rolls of the college during one semester preceding the first semester examination
    2. is required to attend at least 75% of the lectures delivered (the teaching days to be counted up to a week before the commencement of exams).
    3. has to score the minimum pass marks in Mid Semester Tests (MST) prescribed by University which is mentioned below:
      1. B Com Course: 40% marks in each paper as well as in aggregate of all the papers in MST.
      2. BBA Course: 40% marks in each paper and 50% marks in aggregate of all the papers in MST.
      3. B Com Honours: 50% marks in MST.
    4. has to obtain minimum pass marks in internal assessment as prescribed by university i.e 40% per subject in both B.Com & BBA courses.
IN CASE ANY STUDENT FAILS TO FULFIL ANY OF THE ABOVE STATED ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS, HE/SHE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO APPEAR IN END SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS (ESE).


SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
Semester System of education is based on continuous assessment of the learning assimilated by the student. As such, period of the term of a semester is divided into the following tests in the order given below:

(a)     Pre MST Class Test– This test will be Internal in nature and will be held after a period of a month and a half after the start of the semester. Minimum score required to pass this test is 40% per subject for both B Com and BBA courses
(b)     Assignment- Assignments will be Internal in nature and will be allotted to the students within seven days after the start of the semester. It will be compulsory for each student to submit his/her assignment for each subject within the time frame given by the subject incharge, failing which he/she will fetch zero credit as a weightage for assignment in internal assessment.
(c)     Mid Semester Test (MST)- MSTs will be internal in nature and will be held after a period of about three months after the start of the semester. Some of the important features of MSTs are as under:

i. MST will be a three hour test covering almost half of the prescribed syllabus.
ii. It shall carry maximum of 80 marks per subject. Minimum score required to pass B Com MST is 40% in each subject with the same percentage in aggregate of all subjects. In case of BBA, minimum score required to pass each subject remains 40% but aggregate of all subjects is increased to 50% as against B Com subjects.
iii. In case of failure to achieve the minimum score as specified above, no second chance will be given to the student for improving his/her internal assessment and internal assessment will be marked strictly on the basis of score obtained by him in MST.
iv. As MST is compulsory, unauthorised absence from the test will fetch zero credit
(d)      Post MST Class test – This test will be internal in nature and will be held after a period of about four and a half months after the start of the semester. Minimum score required to pass this test is 40% per subject for both B Com and BBA courses
(e)     End Semester Examinations (ESE)- These exams will be External in nature and will be the final examination of the semester for the assessment of the students and will be conducted by the University itself. Odd semester examinations will be held in the month of December and even semester examination in May. The minimum percentage of marks required to pass B Com and BBA each semester examination shall be 40% in each paper in the university examination separately as well as jointly with internal assessment. In addition to this, in case of BBA, minimum 50% marks are required to be obtained in aggregate of all the subjects taught in that semester.

2. EXAMINATION RULES FOR ANNUAL CLASSES

ELIGIBILITY FOR APPEARING IN ANNUAL UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS (AS PER UNIVERSITY GUIDELINES)
In order to be eligible, a student

    1. is required to attend at least 75% of the lectures delivered (the teaching days to be counted up to the last day of the session when the classes break up for preparatory holidays).
    2. has to score the minimum pass marks in house examinations prescribed by University i.e. 35%, 40% and 50% marks in B Com, BBA and B Com Honours Courses respectively in each subject during the two house examinations separately.
    3. has to obtain minimum pass marks in internal assessment, as prescribed by university i.e 40% per subject in BBA course.
IN CASE ANY STUDENT FAILS TO FULFIL ANY OF THE ABOVE STATED ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS, HE/SHE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO APPEAR IN UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS.


SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

Under Annual system of evaluation, the knowledge acquired by the student is tested at regular intervals of time. Continuous evaluation of the learning assimilated is tested through both formative and summative assessment tools. The following tools are used to evaluate the performance of the students in the order given below:

  1. First Term Tests- These are internal in nature and will be held after a period of about two months of the start of the session. Some of the important features of First Term Tests are as under:
    1. Term Test will a three hour test covering almost half of the prescribed syllabus.
    2. It shall carry maximum of 80 marks per subject. Minimum score required to pass in B Com, BBA and B COM Hons’ is 35%, 40% and 50% respectively in each subject with the same percentage in aggregate of all subjects.
    3. In case of failure to achieve the minimum score as specified above, no second chance will be given to the student for improving his/her internal assessment and internal assessment will be marked strictly on the basis of score obtained by him in the said test.

  2. Second Term Tests- These are Internal in nature and will be held after a period of about four months of the start of the session. Some of the important features of First Term Tests are as under:
    1. Term Test will be a three hour test covering almost half of the prescribed syllabus.
    2. It shall carry maximum of 80 marks per subject. Minimum score required to pass in B Com, BBA and B COM Hons’ is 35%, 40% and 50% respectively in each subject in second Term Test with the same percentage in aggregate of all subjects in First and Second Term Tests.
    3. In case of failure to achieve the minimum score as specified above, no second chance will be given to the student for improving his/her internal assessment and internal assessment will be marked strictly on the basis of score obtained by him in the said test.
      1. As term tests are compulsory, unauthorized` absence from the test will fetch zero credit
  3. Assignment/ Project work- Project Work is internal in nature and will be held after a period of five months of the start of the session. It will be compulsory for each student to submit his/her project work for each subject, failing which he/she will fetch zero credit as a weightage for assignment in internal assessment.
  4. Annual Examination- These are external in nature and will be final University examination of the session for the assessment of the students and will be conducted by the University itself in the month of April. Minimum score required to pass in B Com is 35% whereas in case of BBA, it is 40% in each subject separately as well as jointly with internal assessment.

3. EXAMINATION RULES FOR B COM HONOURS CLASSES

A. RULES FOR B.Com HONOURS 3rd/ 4th/5th/ 6th SEMESTER
ELIGIBILITY FOR APPEARING IN B COM HONOURS UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS

Attendance: All rules of college attendance policy shall apply to B Com Honours program also.
Mid Semester Test (MST): A student will be required to appear in the Mid Semester Test (MST) in Honours and score a minimum of 50% marks to be eligible for appearing in PU End Semester Examinations.

THE STUDENTS WHO DO NOT MEET ANY OF THE ABOVE TWO CRITERION, HIS/HER NAME WILL BE STRUCK OFF FROM HONOURS COURSE PERMANENTLY WITHOUT ANY CHANCE OF READMISSION.

 

EVEN A 4TH/5TH/6TH SEMESTER HONOURS STUDENT WHO HAS PASSED THE 3RD/4TH/5TH SEMESTER HONOURS EXAMINATION RESPECTIVELY CONDUCTED BY UNIVERSITY WILL BE DISALLOWED TO CONTINUE IN THE HONOURS COURSE IF HE FAILS TO FULFIL ANY OF THE CONDITIONS MENTIONED ABOVE

UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENT FOR AWARDING B.COM (HONOURS) DEGREE
The minimum marks required to qualify for honours in B.Com course shall be:

(a) 50% marks in aggregate of B.Com 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Semester.
(b) 50% marks in aggregate of honours papers with a minimum of 40% marks in each paper separately as well as jointly with internal assessment.

B. RULES FOR B.Com HONOURS 3rd YEAR
ELIGIBILITY FOR APPEARING IN B COM HONOURS UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS

Attendance: All rules of college attendance policy shall apply to B Com Honours program also.
Term Tests : A student will be required to appear in both the Term Tests in Honours and score a minimum of 50% marks separately in both Term Tests to become eligible for appearing in PU annual examinations.

THE STUDENTS WHO DO NOT MEET ANY OF THE ABOVE TWO CRITERION, HIS/HER NAME WILL BE STRUCK OFF FROM HONOURS COURSE PERMANENTLY WITHOUT ANY CHANCE OF READMISSION

 

EVEN A THIRD YEAR HONOURS STUDENT WHO HAS PASSED THE SECOND YEAR HONOURS EXAMINATION CONDUCTED BY UNIVERSITY WILL BE DISALLOWED TO CONTINUE IN THE HONOURS COURSE IF HE FAILS TO FULFIL ANY OF THE CONDITIONS MENTIONED ABOVE

UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENT FOR AWARDING B.COM (HONOURS) DEGREE
The minimum marks required to qualify for honours in B.Com course shall be:

(a) 50% marks in aggregate of B.Com Ist, IInd and IIIrd year.
(b) 50% marks in aggregate of honours papers with a minimum of 45% marks in each paper seperately as well as jointly with internal assessment.

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT – WEIGHTAGE OF MARKS

B.Com/BBA IIIrd Year and B Com Hons’ IIIrd Year
Internal Assessment carries a 20% weightage of the total marks in each subject. The details of which are:

(i) At the end of B Com first semester there will be viva-voce examination of 10 marks which will include Debate, Declamation and Personal Interview.
(ii) At the end of BBA second semester there will be viva-voce examination of 10 marks which will include Group Discussion. The students will appear in the group of 10 students for viva-voce.
