Attendance

Practice of attending regular classes makes a student responsible, disciplined and a good time manager. Personal interaction with the teachers in class fosters a sense of healthy participation within the class and fulfills the inquisitiveness of the students. Thus, they learn to explain and analyze the subject in a better way with an improved ability to retain and recall and develop critical thinking skills on the subject as well. Explanation, clarification and elaboration on the content given by the teacher and the practical inputs as well as latest developments on the subject elucidated by the teacher provides added depth into the topic being taught supplementing to the text book knowledge to a great extent. Reading the text books just to cram the topics for examination purpose can’t provide the benefits a student can reap by attending the classes regularly.

ATTENDANCE RULES FOR THE STUDENTS

The College expects that every student attends 100% of the lectures delivered in each subject during the session. In order to ensure regular attendance, the following attendance policy is in place:

COMMUNICATION TO PARENTS IN CASE OF SHORTAGE IN ATTENDANCE

Attendance is calculated for each subject separately on monthly basis. In case the attendance of any student is less than 75% at the end of a month, his/her parents are informed immediately about the same.

CONTINUOUS ABSENCE FOR CONSECUTIVE FOUR WORKING DAYS

Every student is required to attend his classes on all working days unless he/she is granted leave by the College. If a student remains absent from his/her class for a continuous period of four working days without authorized leave, his/her name is struck off from the college rolls and the parents of the student are informed about the same immediately through an SMS. Re-admission is given in accordance with the rules of re-admission.

 TUTORIAL ATTENDANCE

As per Panjab University Calendar, attendance in tutorials is compulsory. For calculation of attendance percentage of a student, attendance in tutorials is clubbed with the attendance in the main lectures for each subject separately.

 * No student is granted permission to come late or leave before the college timings to attend any other class/activity outside the college.

**A student can avail seven days exemption either for a CAT Entrance Examination or for CA/CS examinations.

A student is required to maintain atleast 75% attendance in all subjects as per the eligibility norms of Panjab University.
