Women Development Committeeof Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management (SACCM) organised a session on the topic “Charting New paths towards Gender Equality in India”on 7th November, 2023. The resource person for the session was Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk, Professor-of-Laws University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana. & Principal (Additional Charge) Panjab University Constituent College, Vill. Karyal, Dharamkot, Distt. Moga. Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar, principal of the college welcomed the speaker. Prof. Virkwhile realising the significance of sensitising young generation towards gender equalitystarted the session mentioning the current scenario of gender inequality in our society. Her discourse comprised of feminist perspectives of law under which she referred to constitution law, family laws, labour laws, criminal laws and some prominent judgements. She familiarised students with terms like reverse discrimination, gas lighting and post genderism etc. She concluded her session by emphasising on balance in thoughts and behavior. Students asked many queries which were very well answered by the resource person. The session was coordinated by Dr. Jaspreet Kaur and Dr. Leenu Anand.
