Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana, celebrated the 152nd birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh along with the celebrations of the 78th year of India’s Independence. It also observed ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’ under the NSS unit.

Prof. Dr. Vishal Kumar, Principal of the college, and the college faculty, paid obeisance to Maharishi Sri Aurobindo, and hoisted India’s national flag TIRANGA. A paper reading contest on the topic Life is life – whether in a cat, or dog or man‘ was organised on the occasion. Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, blessed with gift of the gab, started the show in her own manner. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Vishal Kumar in his address to the gathering stated that Sri Aurobindo was not only a great Indian mystic but a meta human of sorts. Dr. Vishal, through his sagacious words, wanted the young listeners to follow the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, both in letter and spirit. He also urged the students to participate still more in such events that polish the soft skills of the students. He also dwelt upon the teachings of the sage and seer Sri Aurobindo Ghosh.

Students from all the semesters participated in the contest and showcased their oratory skills. Enthused with ideas bathed in all-pervasive great Indian culture, the young orators virtually set the stage on fire through their electrifying gift of the gab.

Dr. Iradeep, Assistant Professor, SCD Government college, Ludhiana, and Mr. Sahil Ghai, Assistant Professor, SACCM were the judges of the event. The judges were all enthralled with the zealous performance of the young orators.

Kshitija Sood bagged first prize, Kunal Verma got second prize and third prize went to Vamika Jain. The participants were quite buoyant over their performance. The takeaway is that the contest was rich both in content and conscience. It left a lasting and an indelible imprint on the impressionable minds of the young listeners.

Dr. Prerna Ahuja, the devoted, dynamic and an innovative teacher presented vote of thanks in her uniquely winsome and charismatic style. The celebrations came to close with the rendition of national anthem. All this was followed by a refreshing luncheon to all present.
